Jennifer Hantho

Board Member

During a 45 year career in higher education, Jennifer served as an administrator in admissions and financial aid, primarily working with high school students and their families through the process. Her career included work at colleges and universities from Texas to DC to the Midwest, where she spent half of her career at Carleton College.  During her time at Carleton, she served 18 years as Associate Dean of Admissions and 6 years as Executive Assistant to the President.  In reflecting on her career, she is especially grateful for the work she did to help underrepresented students navigate both the admissions/application process and the complexities of filing for financial aid to attend college.  “Helping students with some support they need, seeing their confidence grow has been most rewarding.”
Jennifer continues to volunteer helping students with the college admissions process, plus reading scholarship applications for St. Paul College as needed. Being on the CIS Twin Cities board is a continuation of her interest in helping students gain the support, confidence and skills to realize their potential going forward in life.

In addition he served in a variety of administrative roles as a dean of students and  mathematics department chair. Jim retired after 38 years at Saint Paul Academy and Summit School with the goal of continuing his work supporting student achievement as a volunteer tutor. Working in support of CISTC is consistent with his many years of work supporting equity and inclusion as well.  In his words," fulfilling the mission of CISTC is a way to pay forward the opportunities he and members of his family have been afforded from supportive teachers and coaches."
